Bamboo and Cork Flooring
Bamboo Flooring and Cork are both green products and are showcased at Avalanche.
Not all Bamboo is created equal. Bamboo flooring, like carpet comes in different quality levels. Bamboo is a grass rather than a wood. As a grass, Bamboo regenerates fast and is harvested within six years of sprouting, making it a truly renewable resource. Some woods have a basic hardness that is relatively consistent throughout the species no matter where it is grown or harvested.

Cork has been used in the floor covering industry since the turn of the century, but with advancing technology in the manufacturing process, durability and maintenance have been greatly improved. Also, new patterns and colors have been developed to meet the demand of today's design trends.
Cork is the material extracted from the bark of the cork oak tree, which only grows in the forests of Mediterranean countries, predominately Spain and Portugal. The bark was designed by Mother Nature to protect the tree during its average 500-year lifespan. Not only is the bark inherently fire retardant to prevent destruction by forest fires, it is also resistant to temperature changes prevailing in those regions. It is important to note that only the bark is peeled off every decade. The tree itself is never felled. By using cork, we keep the forest alive and the habitat undisturbed.
